Activity coordinators in care homes are the unsung heroes of daily life for residents, yet their own well-being is often overlooked. Making Sense is thrilled to receive funding from Arts Wales’ Arts in Health and Well-being Fund to change that, supporting coordinators across Wrexham through creative, hands-on projects.

Working alongside the Wrexham commissioning team’s Person-Centred Planning Dementia Coordinator and a network of over 25 activity coordinators, the project explores how art can enhance the well-being of both staff and residents.

Over the coming months, the initiative will bring:

  • Creative workshops and events that encourage reflection, connection, and inspiration through art.

  • Artist residencies in three care homes, pairing artists with coordinators to provide practical support, fresh ideas, and new ways to engage residents.

  • Sharing outcomes at the WEAVE Arts in Health Conference in Wrexham on 8–9 September 2025, highlighting how supporting staff well-being benefits the whole care community.

By focusing on the people who care for others, Making Sense hopes to spark a ripple effect of creativity, connection, and well-being throughout Wrexham’s care homes.
